This affectionate homage to the big monster movies of the 1950s, such as Them!, spoofs the typical moments of the genre while adding gore and dark humour for the 1990s audience. One of several marijuana farmers in a mountain village concocts a special fertiliser for his plants, but his leaky machine spills it on to some tick eggs, causing massive mutation and mayhem. It's then up to a group of troubled teenagers on a mountain retreat to save the day and escape. Several plot holes and narrative gaps indicate that the movie was shortened from a longer - and presumably more coherent - cut. Ultimately the level of gore and slime is so extreme, it becomes comical instead of disgusting.
