An American football team goes on strike, so the worried owner enlists a famous coach to get a replacement side into shape in time for the play-offs. The eccentric trainer opts to recruit from outside the professional field, ending up with a Welsh soccer player, a sumo wrestler and a volatile ex-cop on his roster.
