In this third instalment in the successful but unremarkable franchise about the junior hockey team, original coach Emilio Estevez's coaching boots are filled by Jeffrey Nordling (though Estevez makes a brief appearance). Director Robert Lieberman's contribution to the series sees the Mighty Ducks - slightly more grown-up this time around - as bonafide champs, but they find it difficult to adapt to their snooty new school. Joss Ackland turns up in another cartoonish villain role - presumably he's doing it for the money - but even fans of the first two films will notice the law of diminishing returns kicking in.

The Ducks are offered scholarships at Eden Hall Academy but struggle with their new coach's methods and come under pressure from the board to retain their scholarships before their big game against the Varsity team.
