"A serial killer with a vice for Video Poker"
- Director: Dario Argento
- Genre: Horror, Art House & International, Mystery & Suspense,
- Studio: Opera Film (II)
- Duration: 125 Mins
|
Overview:
In Suspiria director Dario Argento's worst thriller, a psychopath challenges Roman policewoman Stefania Rocca to games of Internet poker for the lives of abducted women. If she loses, the screaming victims are murdered live on webcam. Can Rocca, haunted by memories of her gambler father, and disgraced Irish cop, Liam Cunningham, uncover the weird clues to the cyber assassin's identity? Sporting little of the "Italian Hitchcock's" signature flair or flamboyant style, this dreary-looking and bloodless bust (all the violence takes place off-screen) begins like a bad episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and ends on a frantically old-fashioned Perils of Pauline note, complete with silent movie villainy and a train track. Awful special effects and laughable dialogue (atrociously dubbed for the Italian cast, bar Rocca) only add to the awkward inconsistencies of this lazy, lethargic whodunnit.
