An act of petty crime in 1980s Manchester brings together a boy with a talent for football and renowned coach Matt Busby. The trainer comes out of retirement to guide the lad and his friends through a youth league cup, an experience that helps him come to terms with the deaths of his players in the 1958 Munich air disaster.
