Overview:
Rick Schroder stars in this First World War drama that's based on a shameful real-life incident that occurred during the final days of the conflict. In 1918, some 550 American soldiers from the 77th Division were ordered to capture a mill at Charlvaux in the Argonne Forest region of north-east France. Trapped behind enemy lines and bombarded by artillery fire from both sides, the battalion was soon being written off by superior officers who were sitting comfortably away from the front line. Shooting on location in Luxembourg, director Russell Mulcahy pulls no punches in depicting the nightmarish situation, and he's well served by Schroder and a cast of otherwise unknowns.
