This predictable, sentimental romantic melodrama is so sugary that you could probably get cavities just from watching it. A relentless emotional button-pusher, it stars Alice Evans as a small-town American whose Christmas card to a random soldier in Afghanistan (John Newton) gives the serviceman renewed strength and inspires him to go on a mission to find her. Events pan out exactly as expected, with saccharine dialogue and falsely manufactured festive cheer adding to the manipulative goo as the duo are gradually drawn together. Only Ed Asner as Evans's protective father delivers any sense of realism, but his earnestness seems out of place amid all the greetings card-style cuteness.

Sergeant Cody Cullen is deeply touched by a homemade Christmas card he receives while serving in Afghanistan. Upon his discharge, he treks to the picturesque California town of Nevada City. Cody is soon welcomed into the Spelman home and unexpectedly falls in love with the woman who sent the card, Faith.
