Adrian Paul, star of the Highlander TV series, has a nice line in deadpan humour as a Polish bloodsucker teaming-up with vampire-hating cop Bokeem Woodbine in this slickly enjoyable futuristic thriller. Taking obvious visual inspiration from John Woo, Tony Scott, Terry Gilliam and the Wachowski brothers, director Michael Oblowitz adds an impressive surface sheen to a fast-paced effort, shot in moody Budapest locations. Beneath the novelty window-dressing, it's merely a standard, formulaic buddy movie, but there are a few noteworthy narrative touches, such as the on-screen computer displays introducing each new vampire character and Paul's poignant wartime origin. A more entertaining package than the straight-to-video tag suggests.

Vampires have come out of the shadows and are living as normal citizens. Two policemen, one a vampire, are assigned to track down a serial killer who tears the throat of his victims and drains their blood.
