This brainless martial arts romp teams Dolph Lundgren, as monosyllabically wooden as ever, with a pre-Crow Brandon Lee as cops hunting down a vicious yakuza gang operating in Los Angeles. Mark L Lester, who specialises in this sort of thing and whose best movie remains Arnold Schwarzenegger's Commando, packs in enough shoot-outs and fights to keep undemanding fans of the genre happy - at one point Lundgren is out of bullets and at the mercy of an onrushing car, so merely vaults over it. However, there's no style or substance and the interpretation of the cardboard cut-out oriental villain is faintly racist. Wayne's World's Tia Carrere crops up as a singer in the gangster's nightclub, but the best thing about this movie is the mercifully short running time.

An American with a Japanese upbringing, Chris Kenner is a police officer assigned to the Little Tokyo section of Los Angeles. Kenner is partnered with Johnny Murata, a Japanese-American who isn't in touch with his roots. Despite their differences, both men excel at martial arts, and utilize their formidable skills when they go up against Yoshida, a vicious yakuza drug dealer with ties to Kenner's past.
