This fact-based story involves a commercial flight to Honolulu which, somehow, avoided tragedy after the plane's roof vanished at 24,000 feet. Made long after disaster movies had stopped being fashionable (American TV executives used to refer to their "disaster movie of the week"), this TV movie is not hindered by too much implausible plot and hysterical action, as films of this type often are. It's sufficiently buoyed up by well-coiled thrills, and has a sustained sense of danger and unease, and a cast lacking in superstars manages to achieve better results than you usually find in the genre.

Based on a real, in-flight incident in 1988, a passenger jet loses a portion of its fuselage in flight over Hawaii and is forced to make an emergency landing.
