"A Knight in Shining Overalls."

15

  • Director: Clayton Jacobson
  • Genre: Musical & Performing Arts,
  • Studio: Thunderbox Films
  • Subtitled | Widescreen | Duration: 110 Mins

Overview:
Australian comedies work best when the country's natural "larrikinism" is tempered with a touch of self-deprecation - think of The Castle, "Crocodile" Dundee and Malcolm. But the eponymous hero of this (played by co-writer Shane Jacobson) would no doubt find that statement more than a bit pretentious, so let's just say that this spoof documentary is both cheerfully crude and lovably laconic. Much of that is down to the genial charm of Jacobson, who plays the philosophical portable loo supplier - "I don't do it for the glory" - in this tale about the unsung heroes of Splashdown, which, confusingly, is also the name of a real toilet rental company. When he's not dealing with the septic challenges of drunken festival-goers, Kenny is attempting to bond with his young son and reconnect with his grumpy old father (played by real dad, Ronald). Directed by Shane's brother Clayton Jacobson, this really is toilet humour, but for once that should be taken as the ultimate compliment.
