"The summer is going to be in tents."
- Director: Fred Savage
- Genre: Family, Comedy
- Studio: Revolution Studios
- Duration: 105 Mins
|
Overview:
A half-hearted sequel to box-office hit Daddy Day Care, Daddy Day Camp quickly squanders whatever goodwill its predecessor generated. It's bad enough that Eddie Murphy, star of the 2003 original, is replaced by the infinitely less funny Cuba Gooding Jr; what's unforgivable is the slapdash plotting, trite sermonising and complete dearth of entertainment that this truly appalling follow-up tries to pass off as fun for all the family. Gooding Jr takes over the character of Charlie Hinton, who here decides to build up his day-care empire by purchasing a run-down summer camp. A battle with a rival camp is the extent of the plot, while the desperate screenwriters do their best to earn the PG rating (though not many laughs) with lots of toilet humour. Watching this, it's hard to believe that Cuba Gooding Jr was once an Oscar winner.
