Overview:
House of Wax director Jaume Collet-Serra takes over directing duties from Danny Cannon for this second instalment of the planned football trilogy. Here, Mexican soccer sensation Santiago Munez (Kuno Becker) transfers from Newcastle United to Real Madrid and competes in the UEFA Champions League. Meanwhile, off the field, he is seduced away from his stay-at-home Geordie fiancée Roz (Anna Friel) by vivacious Jordana Garcia (Leonor Varela). As in the first film, the plot is pure Roy of the Rovers. But the football scenes are still among the best ever seen on screen, with real players seamlessly integrated with the actors. There is one small problem with blending fact and fiction, though: real events tend to change while the fiction is being made. In Santiago's world, David Beckham and Zinédine Zidane are still playing for Real Madrid. In the real world, of course, they're not.
