"To leave the nest, some men just need a little push."
- Director: Tom Dey
- Genre: Drama, Romance, Comedy,
- Studio: Failure to Launch Productions
- Subtitled | Widescreen | Duration: 110 Mins
|
Overview:
This lumbering romantic comedy pretends to address the apparent trend of 30-something slackers who are unwilling to fly the nest. It is actually an excuse to have a character called Tripp (played by Matthew McConaughey) fall over in all manner of random slapstick episodes. Tripp trips. Often. This is a useful indication of the level of wit the actors - and audience - are forced to deal with here. An under-used Kathy Bates plays the long-suffering mother of this "adultescent" who hires Sarah Jessica Parker's specialist consultant to tempt him into moving out by making him fall for her. It's an odd concept within a laboured plot that's overly mechanical and rarely funny. Director Tom Dey only highlights the problem with an incongruous, melodramatic twist that backfires in the final approach.
