Alcoholic Jeffrey Combs inherits a castle in Italy, only to find the previous tenant kept a deformed zombie with a taste for human flesh chained in the dungeon. Although this strait-laced horror comedy speeds along with enough splashy gore and weirdness to provide mild amusement, it's a minor effort from Re-Animator director Stuart Gordon. Eschewing the razor-sharp satire contained in his best work, Gordon focuses instead on screams, kinky sex and blood, paying scant attention to the wildly uneven performances or gaping plot-holes.
