Director Harley Cokliss plays too safe, here sticking to a standard action-thriller format. Similarly, there are solid but not outstanding performances from the cast, with the exception of the ever-excellent Tommy Lee Jones, who for once comes off the sidelines as the hero - a burglar on the trail of a stolen computer tape. Linda Hamilton, who made her mark in the Terminator movies, and Robert Vaughn (The Man from UNCLE) provide able support, but even they are not at their best. Co-written (with Desmond Nakano and William Gray) by John Carpenter from his own story, it could have been so much better with him as director.
