"Broadway's barest, rarest, unsquarest love play."
- Director: Gene Saks
- Genre: Drama, Classics, Comedy,
- Studio: Nancy Enterprises Inc. (I)
- Subtitled | Widescreen | Duration: 125 Mins
|
Overview:
In this delightful comedy, adapted by Neil Simon from his hit Broadway show, Robert Redford (who appeared in the stage play) and Jane Fonda star as the young married couple attempting to achieve newly wedded bliss. Redford is a joy in a reasonably rare comic role, though Mildred Natwick almost steals the film as Fonda's mother. It's handled well by director Gene Saks (he also made The Odd Couple), who keeps the humour flowing and maintains a lively pace until about half an hour from the end.
