Take House of Wax, season with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, add a soupçon of Carrie and leave for 20 minutes, or preferably for the rest of your waking life. Suspense is a rare commodity in this low-budget horror flick focusing on a group of teens - including future Charlie's Angel and Bond girl Tanya Roberts - who get marooned in the desert when their jeep breaks down. Unluckily for them it's near a museum housing a collection of wax models controlled by nutty Chuck Connors. Directorial debutante David Schmoeller tries to play upon the uneasiness a lot of us feel about lifelike mannequins, but his efforts fall flat. It's tempting to say that the dummies give the best performances.
