Slasher pioneer Herschell Gordon Lewis could never be accused of pretension or artifice in his unashamedly fuctional approach to slaughter. Taking Lewis's own nickname for its title, this hilarious offering is right out of the Roger Corman school of exploitation, as it follows the demented Montag the Magician (Ray Sager) on a mesmeric killing spree that is ultimately halted by the hostess of a TV chat show. The eviscerations Montag performs before a mind-numbed audience are schlock of the most gloriously silly variety and Ray Sager's performance is 5 per cent inspiration, 95 per cent ineptitude. But that's the charm of this kind of bargain-basement butchery.

A talk show hostess and her boyfriend investigate a shady magician who has the ability to hypnotize and control people's thoughts in order to stage gory onstage illusions using his powers of mindbending.
