Overview:
In this wayward comedy, Eugene Levy plays a naive dental-supplies salesman that federal agent Samuel L Jackson involves in an investigation for what cannot be called a good reason. Relying on Levy's cartoonish expressions and Jackson's clichéd hardman antics for interest, this sagging caper is only redeemed (and then only partially) by the incidental detail. There's a delicate moment with a tramp who almost grabs the drop money and an amusing one when Levy's character is locked up in a holding cell for women because the duty officer can't bear to see him hurt. It's all terribly familiar and predictable - apart from the nicely pitched performance of Luke Goss (yes, of Bros) as the inevitable British baddie. The former pop star is shown to have a nifty sense of comic timing. Who knew?
