"Terror has a new name."

- Director: John Maybury
- Genre: Drama, Mystery, Science Fiction, Thriller, Fantasy
- Studio: Section Eight
- Subtitled | Widescreen | Duration: 110 Mins
Overview:
Horrific sensory deprivation therapy gives Gulf War veteran Adrien Brody the ability to travel through time in this claustrophobic psychological thriller. Heading a strong cast that includes Keira Knightley and Daniel Craig, Brody plays a discharged marine with injury-related amnesia, who's committed to a mental institution after being tried for murder and found not guilty by reason of insanity. There, he falls into the clutches of Dr Becker (an excellent Kris Kristofferson), whose controversial treatment regimen - which consists of being drugged, confined in a straitjacket and locked for extended periods in a morgue drawer - inexplicably propels the soldier's disoriented mind into the future, where he meets a troubled young woman (Knightley). This is the most accessible work to date from British director John Maybury (Love Is the Devil). But, though many scenes are genuinely disturbing, the overall plot has little substance. Instead, sophisticated editing and imaginative cinematography make everything seem far cleverer than it actually is. Analyse the film and it falls apart, but, taken solely on face value, it's a gripping and mind-bending ride.
