Overview:
"Only the most ridiculous parts of this story are true", begins this offbeat war-torn comedy. Dodging bullets and blast shrapnel are Simon Hunt (Richard Gere), a reporter on the front line during the Bosnian War, and his trusted sidekick cameraman Duck (Terence Howard). After a spectacular on-screen meltdown stalls his career, Hunt bounces back five years later with a madcap plan to secure a world exclusive interview with the Fox (Ljubomir Kerekes), a notorious Serbian war criminal. Deliberately avoiding the docudrama of Michael Winterbottom's Welcome to Sarajevo, writer/director Richard Shepard (The Matador) tries to pull off a free-wheeling, irreverent approach that only half works given the grimly unfunny reality of the horrors to which the movie pays lip service. The film is based on an Esquire article written by journalist Scott K Anderson, who was mistaken for a CIA operative hunting Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic in 2000.
