"The key man to the most daring plot ever concocted by the secret agents of two worlds!"
- Director: Franklin J Schaffner
- Genre: Mystery & Suspense, Action & Adventure,
- Studio: Albion Film Corp. (I)
- Duration: 125 Mins
|
Overview:
A spy flick from a time when audiences were conditioned to expect a double agent around every corner. Here, though, a miscast Yul Brynner plays two characters, one American and one German, and makes both of these tight-lipped agents equally dull. The real surprise is that this Swiss-located Elstree-based murk is directed by the redoubtable Franklin J Schaffner, best remembered for Patton and Planet of the Apes. Goes to show that, no matter how talented a director is, if it's not in the script it'll never be on the screen. Nice actors like Lloyd Nolan, Moira Lister, Clive Revill and particularly David Bauer do what they can to help, and cameraman Denys Coop at least ensures the movie looks fetching.
