John McNaughton's follow-up to the hugely controversial Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer finds him in more straightforward sci-fi horror territory. The story tracks an alien creature with a penchant for ripping the heads off unsuspecting humans and plonking them on his own neck. Rae Dawn Chong and Don Gordon are the puzzled detectives on its trail. McNaughton has some fun playing around with genre conventions and, while it's a long way from the bleak dread of Henry, it offers enough scares to keep horror fans happy. It's co-written by Richard Fire and the cast includes Tom Towles, both of whom collaborated with McNaughton on Henry.
