An uneven mixture of supernatural chiller and courtroom melodrama, this is based on the true story of a British au pair who was accused of arson and murder by her Italian employers after their baby died in extreme circumstances. The action lurches between stylised dream sequences and long passages of dialogue, primarily involving Sienna Guillory as the accused and Mark Strong as her put-upon lawyer. Alice Krige and Charlotte Rampling stand out in a strong supporting cast, but they're unable to shake the suspicion that there was a better movie lurking here than director Kenneth Hope managed to unearth.
