An Iraqi man is taken prisoner during the first Gulf War, shortly after the birth of his son, and is never seen again. As Saddam Hussein's regime is toppled, the boy, now 12 years old, decides to investigate rumours that his father is still alive somewhere in the country, aided by his grandmother and a former soldier.
