Overview:
In this biblical epic from director Robert Aldrich, Stewart Granger stars as Lot, the leader of the Hebrews. Though he makes a pact with the decadent Queen of Sodom (Anouk Aimée), it's not long before he has to make a decision about leading his people away from the twin cities of sin, before God lays waste to them both, trashing Ken Adam's sets and burying scores of cheap Italian extras. "Don't look back!" Lot tells his wife (Pier Angeli), but she does and is turned into a pillar of salt (in one of the strangest special effects in movie history). Ridiculous in so many ways, this lesser-known Old Testament extravaganza has an energy and a knowing hypocrisy (those orgies are depraved - let's film another one!) that make it very watchable. Spaghetti western maestro Sergio Leone directed the Italian version and some of the action sequences.
