Edward Burns's follow-up to The Brothers McMullen is a lightly comic family affair. Two brothers (Burns and Mike McGlone) banter about love and marriage: one still smarts from an ex-fiancée's infidelity, the other happily plays away from his wife without conscience. John Mahoney stars as their father, with Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston as the women in question. Witty and well observed by Burns, again both directing and starring, it's instantly entertaining but also instantly forgettable. For all its pretensions, this is essentially just good television.

Mickey, a free-spirited New York cabbie, and Francis, a materialistic Wall Street stockbroker, are extremely competitive and confused about women as a result of their father's influence. They disagree on everything, but they have one thing in common: Mickey's ex-fiance Heather is Francis's secret love. Although both brothers are already married, Heather triggers their longtime sibling rivalry.
