This average second-division western is given moderate interest by its trio of stars, who are well past their primes but still able to hold the attention. John Payne plays an ostracised wagon-train scout battling former B-movie hero Rod Cameron (here cast against type) for the hand of mixed-race Faith Domergue. There's a nice touch of self-sacrifice among the gun-toting shenanigans, but the attitudes towards "Red Indians" (never native Americans in these films) wouldn't be tolerated today. This was veteran director William Witney's penultimate western at Republic Studios.
