Overview:
Amazingly, it's 12-years since Rock Hudson's Aids-related death stunned his legion of fans. This TV movie traces his rise to fame, relives some of his smash-hit movies and reveals the secret life that would ultimately contribute to his demise. The action is loosely based on a memoir written by Phyllis Gates, the woman Hudson married on the advice of the studio publicity machine to reinforce his screen image. Thomas Ian Griffith battles bravely in the title role, but he always seems more like the truck driver that Hudson once was, than the star manufactured with such care by Universal.
