This is a well-intentioned tribute to Hannah Nyala, the head of a search-and-rescue unit who risked her life to find a nine-year-old girl reported missing in the desert. Nyala's achievement was all the more remarkable considering that, at the time of the rescue, she was also dealing with the problem of an abusive ex-husband. Linda Hamilton gives a credible performance as Nyala (renamed Rachel Harrison in the film), though the story - inspired by Nyala's book - is somewhat diminished by the lowbrow TV-movie approach that includes corny flashbacks.

After Rachel Myles' abusive ex-husband vanishes with their children, she takes refuge in the solitude of the desert, where she makes a new career as a search-and-rescue tracker. When a young girl disappears, she searches the desert while praying and hoping for the safe return of her own children. Inspired by actual events based upon the memoir by Hannah Nyala.
