An early, and affecting, performance from Keanu Reeves is the sole reason for bothering with this "social issue" movie about what drives teens to suicide. Reeves is the under-achieving best friend of the seemingly perfect pupil (Alan Boyce) who throws himself off a cliff. For what reason is endlessly discussed, although the self-obsessed, angst-ridden traumas of the classmates left behind provide more than enough motive. Only in Reeves's case does such vapid posturing ring heart-breakingly true and appealingly sincere.

David Sinclair seems to have everything going for him: he's smart, musically talented, and very successful. To top off his senior year in high school, his band is trying to get a recording session. Therefore, David's suicide leaves everyone, especially his best friend and bandmate, Chris, with a lot of questions.
