"Just Danny Ocean and his 11 pals."
- Director: Lewis Milestone
- Genre: Crime, Comedy
- Studio: Warner Bros. Pictures
- Subtitled | Widescreen | Duration: 135 Mins
Overview:
This is one of the great (and one of the most critically underrated) caper movies. The story was discovered by Peter Lawford and brought to the attention of fellow Rat Pack member Frank Sinatra. Sinatra effectively produced the movie, casting himself as former sergeant Danny Ocean, who calls on his old wartime pals to help him in a raid on Las Vegas. The League of Gentlemen had a similar plot, but this is altogether sleeker and more audacious, and superbly cast. It's directed in glossy Panavision by veteran Lewis Milestone, who keeps a tight lid on the Rat Pack's antics. The ending, if rather derivative, is still utterly brilliant.
