"Sharon and Derek have all they've ever wanted... but someone else wants it more."
- Director: Steve Shill
- Genre: Drama, Suspense, Thriller
- Studio: Screen Gems
- Subtitled | Widescreen | Duration: 120 Mins
|
Overview:
Singer Beyoncé Knowles co-produces and stars in this completely witless, sub-Fatal Attraction psychological thriller. But as Sharon Charles, the wife of a high-flying executive, she spends much of the film in the background as husband Derek (Idris Elba) grapples with the increasingly blatant sexual advances of a barmy temp (played by an accidentally comic Ali Larter). As this one-dimensional drama unfolds, it becomes increasingly difficult to see what drew Knowles to the project in the first place. While the idea of the all-American blonde coveting the seemingly perfect life of the African-American diva provides an interesting twist, it's sadly drowned out by countless clichés, general hysteria and a ludicrous finale reminscent of The Jerry Springer Show. What remains a mystery is why Elba would agree to play such a wet character after giving such a riveting study of moral complexity as Stringer Bell in acclaimed TV cop series The Wire.
