The wrath of Mother Nature is unleashed on a vacationing couple in this efficient remake of a 1977 Aussie thriller. Jim Caviezel and Claudia Karvan play the bickering husband and wife who head for the country to relax at an idyllic beach hideaway and patch up their ailing marriage. However, their crass treatment of environment and animal alike soon sees them under siege from all manner of flora and fauna. Director Jamie Blanks goes for a sustained sense of dread rather than jolts and shocks (as with previous genre outings Urban Legend and Valentine), and though the tetchy twosome are an unlikeable pair, the shimmering location photography and ominous atmosphere keep things interesting.

Peter and Carla, a couple whose marriage is faltering, decide to go on a camping weekend. When they become lost, the pair sets up camp on a remote beach that doesn't seem to be on any map. At first the trip is the romantic getaway they imagined – then slowly things begin to go wrong. After Peter disrespects the unspoiled habitat, it seems as if the surroundings are exacting revenge on the couple, as insects, animals, and then nature itself become the enemy.
