They can't stand each other, but they have to raise a child together. That's the premise of this unlikely, uneven and unlikeable comedy drama starring Katherine Heigl (27 Dresses) and Josh Duhamel (the Transformers films). They play warring acquaintances who become instant parents when their mutual best friends die and leave them as legal guardians of their daughter. The two leads have screen appeal, but the chemistry between them is thin, while the story is hackneyed and far-fetched; leaving a child to two workaholic narcissists doesn't ring true, and neither does Heigl running into Dr Right (Josh Lucas) within minutes of becoming a "mother". And the overly candid woman from Child Protective Services adds an extra frisson of risibility. Despite the morbid premise, the few poignant moments that exist are believable, if brief; Heigl in particular acquits herself well. Look out for Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) in a brief supporting role.

After a disastrous first date for caterer Holly and network sports director Messer, all they have in common is a dislike for each other and their love for their goddaughter Sophie. But when they suddenly become all Sophie has in this world, Holly and Messer must set their differences aside. Juggling careers and social calendars, they'll have to find common ground while living under the same roof.
