"A STORY PULSING WITH THE HEARTBEAT OF TODAY'S YOUTH!"
- Director: Michael Curtiz
- Genre: Drama, Musical & Performing Arts, Classics,
- Studio: Paramount Pictures
- Black & White | Duration: 140 Mins
|
Overview:
This is arguably Elvis Presley's best film, and certainly his best acting performance. It's a tough New Orleans-set crime drama directed by Hollywood maestro Michael Curtiz, who invests the night-club scenes with the kind of élan that turned the not dissimilar Casablanca into a classic. Elvis has tremendous support from a terrific back-up cast, notably from Walter Matthau as reptilian villain Maxie Fields, and from Carolyn Jones as the long-suffering moll. The songs are knockouts too, especially the Dixie-influenced title number and the sultry Trouble. This is as good as Presley gets - don't miss.
