Bullets fly in this dismal action comedy when suburban housewife Katherine Heigl discovers that husband Ashton Kutcher isn't a management consultant but a "retired" secret agent whose past is coming back to haunt him. Aiming for a blend of superspy capers and battle-of-the-sexes banter, this career low for Legally Blonde director Robert Luketic offers only underwhelming chase sequences and virtually non-existent chemistry between two stars left high and dry by a mirthless script. Of course it's intended as a lightweight diversion, and with Kutcher ambling through it in his characteristic laid-back daze, it could hardly be anything else. Yet this barely qualifies as fluff, topping off its increasingly preposterous storyline with a last-minute twist likely to prompt howls of derision. Only Catherine O'Hara's mugging as Heigl's boozy mum raises the vaguest suspicion of a smile.
