A fine made-for-TV drama, which manages successfully to blur the lines between real life and art. Director Micki Dickoff's movie is based on her own experiences, with Veronica Hamel playing the campaigning film-maker who takes up the case of a former childhood friend (Mimi Rogers) languishing in prison for a murder she did not commit. The two female leads give commanding performances and Dickoff manages to distance herself sufficiently from the action to produce a tense and fiery examination of the iniquities of the American legal system.

Hamel portrays director Dickoff who suspends her career in order to help a friend who's been in prison for quite some time in connection with a murder.
