"His feats of magic were GREAT! The magic of their love was GREATER!"
- Director: George Marshall
- Genre: Drama, History, Suspense, Romance
- Studio: Paramount Pictures
- Subtitled | Widescreen | Duration: 120 Mins
|
Overview:
This is the first of five films real-life married couple Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh - the so-called "elite of the milkshake set" - made together. As the famous escapologist Harry Houdini, Curtis is half-naked for most of the early scenes, a treat for his teenage fans at the time. When he finds Mrs Houdini, he pays the rent by dreaming up ever more ambitious stunts, including being immersed upside down in a deadly water torture chamber. The movie covers some 40 years, though Curtis and Leigh age no more than 40 minutes, and Houdini's eventual demise has the smack of dramatic licence. However, that won't stop you enjoying this entertaining hagiography.
