Small-town loser Rod dreams of being an Evel Knievel-style daredevil motorcyclist, despite having little, if any talent for it. When his stepfather becomes critically ill, the family need to raise money for an operation, so Rod decides to rise to the occasion by planning a record-breaking stunt. For Rod Kimble, performing stunts is a way of life, even though he is rather accident-prone. Poor Rod cannot even get any respect from his stepfather, Frank, who beats him up in weekly sparring matches.
