Despite a troubled shoot, this is an entertaining Bruce Lee vehicle from his Hong Kong days. Lee plays a martial arts student who sets out to avenge the death of his beloved mentor, a boxing master who was killed when he uncovered a smuggling ring organised by a Japanese gangster. The uninitiated will cringe at the dumb script and often amateurish direction, but the fight scenes, choreographed by Lee, are breathtaking and his athletic charisma will win over doubters.

During the Japanese occupation of Shanghai, Chen Zhen, the star pupil of a recently-deceased martial arts teacher battles a Japanese dojo which seeks the demise of his fighting school.
