A selfish woman finds a girl's letter to Santa asking for a new wife for her widowed father, so decides to track the family down with the intention of seducing the man in question. She finds him working at a soup kitchen and offers her own services as a volunteer, learning a few lessons about caring for others along the way. Gordon Covington is a man who tries to make time for his family despite the demands of his job.
