"How do you kill something that can't possibly be alive?"
- Director: John Carpenter
- Genre: Mystery, Drama, Horror, Thriller
- Studio: Columbia Pictures
- Duration: 120 Mins
|
Overview:
Adapted from the novel by Stephen King, this killer-car chiller is the ultimate in auto eroticism. The idea that a 1958 Plymouth Fury can turn into a jealous mistress is a cracker and, through his ingenious use of close-ups and seductive angles, director John Carpenter turns Christine into the sassiest thing on four wheels. He also gets a likeable performance out of Keith Gordon as the geek who becomes a dude the moment he inserts his key in the ignition. It's overlong and more effective as dark comedy than horror, but remains a triumph of subtle effects work and soundtrack selection.
