In this glossy romantic TV drama, Sela Ward stars as the pampered Tinseltown star who drops out of the limelight and finds herself among the everyday folk of a small New England town. Ward has the same problem Melanie Griffith encountered in Cecil B Demented, in that she's not a good enough actress to play ineptitude convincingly. Rebecca Jenkins is marginally more persuasive as the waitress who shows Ward the value of friendship. The unlikely directorial team of Alfonso Arau (Like Water for Chocolate) and Bob Clark (Baby Geniuses) does its best with the material, but the end result is insubstantial.
