Following the success of On Moonlight Bay, Warners Bros brought back its top songbird, the fabulous Doris Day (her hair a slightly blonder shade), and her sweetheart Gordon MacRae for this sequel in which they cope with life in the 1920s. The Technicolor styling is superb, the treatment of the old songs enchanting, and veterans Leon Ames and, particularly, Mary Wickes as the maid are fun to watch. But it's the combination of Day and MacRae that is irresistible, a couple who manage to convey the pleasure of their work to an audience.

Marjorie Winfield's engagement to Bill Sherman, who has just arrived home from fighting in World War I, serves as the backdrop for the trials and tribulations of her family.
