"In the dark, when I feel his heart pounding against mine - is it love? or frenzy? or terror?"
- Director: Robert Aldrich
- Genre: Drama, Mystery, Romance
- Studio: Columbia Pictures
- Black & White | Duration: 120 Mins
|
Overview:
In this dark melodrama, Joan Crawford marries her toyboy lover and then discovers that he's a little, shall we say, disturbed, if not totally deranged. Given an X certificate for its release in the UK, the film features all the hallmarks of director Robert Aldrich: misogyny, misanthropy and murderous intent, a trio of themes he would happily reprise with Crawford in What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?. Cliff Robertson puts in a distinguished performance as Crawford's dangerous other half, although his naturalistic acting style clashes somewhat with Crawford's all-stops-out performance.
