"...gay, sparkling musical hit!"
- Director: Frank Tashlin
- Genre: Comedy, Music
- Studio: Paramount Pictures
- Subtitled | Widescreen | Duration: 110 Mins
|
Overview:
This superior Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis vehicle is gloriously photographed (by Daniel L Fapp of West Side Story fame) in some of the most brilliant Technicolor and VistaVision that you're ever likely to see. Of course, appreciation really depends on how one feels about Martin and Lewis, here expertly cast as a cartoonist and wacky fantasist, respectively, Dean using Jerry's dreams for inspiration. What gives this lunacy credence is that it's the work of a director with a genius for comedy, Frank Tashlin, himself a noted cartoon artist, and there's a wonderful stylistic boldness to the design. As in Tashlin's masterpiece, The Girl Can't Help It, much of the humour may seem relentlessly sexist today.
