Overview:
Dudley Moore's drunken millionaire may be outclassed by John Gielgud's disdainful butler, but he's not the dud that he might have been in this boozy variation on Jeeves and Wooster. As he tries to change his layabout lifestyle for love of blue collar, shoplifting Liza Minnelli, Moore displays the charm and timing that helped to make 10 a hit, though his dipsomaniac character is sometimes too clichéd for comfort. The ever-adaptable Gielgud delivers his lines with such wonderful aplomb that he won an Oscar, and the veteran actor was tempted back to the role seven years later for a brief appearance in the inferior sequel.
