"New house. New family. What could possibly go wrong?"
- Director: Steve Carr
- Genre: Comedy, Family, Drama
- Studio: Revolution Dream Productions
- Duration: 115 Mins
|
Overview:
This unnecessary sequel to Are We There Yet? features rapper-turned-actor Ice Cube in a (very loose) remake of the 1948 Cary Grant vehicle Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House. Downsizing his wife (Nia Long) and her adopted children to a dilapidated house in the countryside, the star gets the opportunity to tackle slapstick favourites like power tools, falling ceiling lights and invasive raccoons. The results are predictably painful and largely unfunny. Ice Cube's perpetually morose persona is hard not to like, though; especially when he's partnered with John C McGinley (from TV's Scrubs) in a borderline certifiable turn as a manic estate agent-cum-contractor-cum-midwife-cum-yoga instructor from hell. It's enough to make this slightly better than its predecessor, although that's probably just damning with faint praise.
